THE GAME
searching for lost memories

You awaken with a gasp.

This is your first breathe. The sensation burns your lungs like fire and you immediately begin coughing and dry heaving. Your head feels as though someone is ponding on it with a large blunt object and your skin feels clammy and cold. You are so busy trying to make sense of what is happening to you at this exact moment that you haven’t yet realized you have no idea who you are. You don’t know where you are or how you got there. And when your head finally starts to clear you realize that you cannot even recall your own name. Just as your body has started to recover from the sensation of your Awakening, you begin it panic. And then you hear a slight chirping and feel the soft vibration of something in your pocket. A phone is ringing over and over, and when you finally come to your senses you pull the thing out. You are already operating the phone before you even realize that you know how to use the damn thing, and see that you have one new message. The message is from someone listed in your phone as The Lady Fate, and the message begins with four simple yet ominous words.

“Welcome to The Game.”

“Welcome to the Game,

I know that you are confused, your body hurts and you have no idea where you are. More troubling is likely the fact that you do not know who you are. Trust me when I tell you, that you are not safe. I do not mean to add to your worries but you need to move quickly. You have just been through what is known as an Awakening. You are now alive, congratulations, but that does mean that you were once dead… I know that is a lot to go into and to comprehend but you do not have time for that. You are now holding your phone which will be a life line, it is filled with information that will serve you well in the time to come. You may have also noticed the tattoo on your wrist or have found the dog tags that tell you your name and other important information. That is all good and well, but first you need to get on your feet. There may be a weapon nearby or you might find that you’ve been gifted with a strange ability… Learning to use these could be the key to your survival, while time is pressing you should take a second to familiarize yourself with the feel of your weapon or how to access your gift.

I’ve talked for too long, you are in danger, right now, as you read this. You are in an arena, a stage, you are a player in The Game. More can be explained later, for now you just need to focus on surviving as your survival is the key to victory. You need to find shelter, allies, and supplies. The number on your wrist gives you an idea of what people you can trust for sure. If you meet humans with different numbers they might be friend or foe, approach them with caution. The time has come for you to move though, use the map in your phone to find a city block called Elysium. You only have a few moments before creatures begin hunting you, do not dally long. I will see you soon my child.
